Haha, yeah I'm the same way. I like dressing up, eating good food, talking with others and having just something little to drink. Anything beyond that... not very me. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

I love cooking with wine, and let's face it, I love drinking it too. But I was never one of those big partiers, pre-college, during college, or after college! The pain the morning after just isn't worth it! This looks like a lovely dish!

I always say the best part of the night is the pre-party and not the actual party. I felt that way in college when it meant gathering a small group for a cocktail before the party and I still think the same now when it means the dinner before going out on the town. In both case you should know that I rarely make it to the actual party part of the night, preferring to hunker into the pre-party and stay there. This quick coq a vin looks perfect for a pre-party-party-post-party. I can't wait to make it. Thanks for sharing!

Haha weird, beer has never tasted that good to me. Slowly, slowly, in the right situations, I'm starting to like some types of it though. I'm jealous that you consider yourself a beer girl!

Yeah I never thought it was important but I feel like it makes such a small, yet important difference! And I hope you make Julia Child's version soon. I'd love to hear how it went with you before I finally get around to trying it out.

Ah, this post brought me back! I never really got the hot, sweaty, parties either. Sure, I had my fair share of them...but then I was so OVER it all and put my tank tops to rest once and for all. And you're right, isn't it nice to buy a bottle of wine to cook with, as opposed to having to drink green dyed beer out of a solo cup on St. Patrick's Day? I sure think it is. But I will still, always be a beer girl :) Happy revelation Amy! woohoo!

Amy, I've never thought about the US drinking age from that perspective! I guess I was lucky in that I spent my college years in Canada and that my interest in cooking seriously for myself (I was no longer living in a dorm) coincided with turning 19. I never really thought about the drinking age here as being a barrier to cooking certain things. That does seem a little unfair!

I've been meaning to try Julia's coq au vin for months now, and I don't know when that's going to happen. I'll have to keep this quick version in mind--it looks very doable for a weeknight dinner!
